Where the Disclosure Appears

We do not rely on this page to disclose anything. Every article that contains an affiliate link carries a disclosure in the body of the article, immediately before the first such link, where you will see it in the course of reading.

A disclosure buried in a footer or on a separate page is not a disclosure. The Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection be disclosed clearly and close to the recommendation it affects, and that is where we put it.

What a Commission Does Not Buy

Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into what we cover, what we conclude, or how a product is described. No partner reviews an article before it is published. We do not accept payment for a favorable assessment, and we do not remove criticism at a partner’s request.

Where we recommend against something we could have earned a commission on, we say so.

Hardware Is Bought, Not Sent

We do not accept review units, loaners, or samples in exchange for coverage. Everything written about here was paid for out of pocket, which is what makes it possible to say a product is not worth buying.

A product appears in an article because the topic called for it, not because a program was available. If an affiliate program exists for something we were going to cover anyway, we may use it; if not, the coverage is the same.

Display Advertising
